Seventy
Bob Dylan is seventy today. Here's seventy versions of songs that he's written. I was hard pressed to narrow it down to seventy, so that's saying something and I think it's enough. These are the songs that folks will still be interpreting in another seventy years.
Happy Birthday Bob.

How can this possibly have no comments?
ReplyDeleteThe Beatles doing Dylan? Holy crap.
What a list! Going to so enjoy ploughing through this lot. This is what music blogs are all about.
ReplyDeletegreat collection, ted. if i become old and wise one day i hope I find the time to listen to this. BUT there's a severe problem: it takes an endless time to load the tracks to listen to or to download. is there something wrong with your mp3s?
ReplyDeletecheers, strawbery fred
whew! thanks Strawberry Fred. I thought it was me. I'm also suffering from AMAZING slow Dls, like the feed is trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a Zip or RAR file, Ted?
Sorry folks. What seemed like like a good idea, may be a little taxing on my server. Traffic is VERY heavy. For now, it'll be best to wait to download. I'll see if I can complile these into smaller zipfiles for download when I have the time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a fantastic post. Can't wait to listen when dl is sorted out.
ReplyDeleteIncredible list. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteUGH!
ReplyDeleteDownloading that list was like pullin' teeth: took F-O-R-E-V-E-R. On a brighter note: now I get to listen ~ Yay!
wow,,thank you so very much!
ReplyDeleteone hell of a collection, ted, though i doubt those songs will be still played in another 70 years. cheers.
ReplyDeleteWow.. that's an impressive post!.. I look forward to working my way through them all. Thanks, Dave
ReplyDeletehats off, Ted. This is magnificent.
ReplyDeletec.o.
Thanks very much for this. A lot of effort must have gone into putting this together (and then fixing it!).
ReplyDeleteAnd then there's Buck Owens doing "Love Minus Zero- No Limit." How could I have not known this existed?
Thank you so very much.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am experiencing uber-slow dl speeds, so will wait 'til traffic dies down to dl & listen - but didn't wan to wait to thank you!
This is magnificent stuff Ted; some real gems here. Thanks for putting the time in, and remember all you impatient dudes, anything this good is worth waiting for.
ReplyDeleteMerci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci, Merci.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!!!!
ReplyDeleteLots of surprises and stuff I haven't even read or heard about (like the George Jackson coverversion - which isn't on my CD-version of "Black America sings Bob Dylan - or the She's Your Lover Now-version)
this was incredible. really. i just finished downloading the whole thing, and man: my hat goes off to you.
ReplyDeletethank you very much.
Wonderful! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a zippedee doo dah, too.
ReplyDeleteZippedee be damned, I downloaded the whole thing. It looks delightful. I'm grateful to folks like Ted, who had the foresight to imagine unique Bob birthday celebrations. I must admit I'm experiencing Bobmas as a series of musical aftershocks thank to them.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing these! I just added 70 new songs to my iPod.
ReplyDeleteI gave up several times last week, but patience is a virtue, virtue is a grace. These are frickin' fabulous. As a covers collector, how come I had heard or heard of barely half of these?
ReplyDeleteThank you, my Man.
WOW - Thanks so much. These are great!
ReplyDeletei just have to say thanks.
ReplyDeleteFor those experiencing slow download speeds here, just come back later. Mr. Barron leaves his posts up long enough for easy access. When his server isn't getting pounded, the dl speeds are fine (plus i listen while downloading so there's plenty of time to read, enjoy the photos & the music).
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you Mr. Barron for the thoughtful collection. There were a few here I had never heard before as well.
WOW! Amazingly well done (even if I seem to be short of the promised "70" -- but who counts among friends?)!
ReplyDeletewonderful. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNice songs. I have downloaded almost every song. Great job.
ReplyDeletegreat ted! very nice coverlist. thanks man & may you -and your blog-stay forever young! john
ReplyDeleteCool list. Nice to see a couple of Byrds tunes on here. They were always my favorite interpreters of old Bob. At 1st glance, I count about 14 of the 70 that I have already in my vinyl or CD collection. Thanks for turning me on to covers I may not have seen before.
ReplyDeleteHow did I not know that Johnny Cash's "Wanted Man" was written by Dylan? Anyway, great list. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSo very worth it!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Uncle Nick
"Changing of the Guards" is a great Patti Smith song! I can't wait for her "Outside Society" album to come out on August 23rd! It's gonna be a great collection of songs that spans her entire career :)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteA bit late for the party as usual, but had to thank you for this fantastic compendium of Dylan songs. So in the mood for this right now...love the cross-sction, Mae West-->Patti Smith is truly something for everyone!
Love this website. Thanks so much.

ReplyDeleteTHANKS
Just came across this amazing post. Wow!! Thank you.
