Jesus Loves The Stooges
...and so does the Boogie Woogie Flu.
I'm sick of writing about dead people, but given that most of the music here at this blog was made by people that are up there in their ages, didn't live lily-white existences, or have already passed on, that's the way it goes. More on the late, great, Ron Asheton and The Stooges over at The Hound Blog

Too young to have caught The Stooges (the first time around), but saw Iggy in 1981 at the old Ritz in NYC and he did some Stooges songs. It's still amazing to consider how original those 1st two albums were. They truly were the anti-Hippies, and thus true forerunners of Punk.
I think you mean born in 1981. Hey, we have no say in when we check in, only when we check out, and even that's mostly random. I only heard one cut from the 2007 Stooges album, was okay, but it's hard to duplicate the magic. There's always the records, though. And Iggy is still here, a living legend/
Ron Asheton was BIG, but he wasn't the Stooges alone, Ted. His Destroy All Monsters singles might be fast, shitty produced one-offs, but they probably got more punk spirit than the whole fuckin 77 "movement", and his best work can be heard on "The First and Last" by The New Race.
See ya,
S.
Sucks to hear this. I'm going to have to spin the first Stooges record in commemoration.
