Obligatory Christmas Post # 5

Longtime readers of this blog may notice that most of this week's posts have been somewhat cursory and recycled from the ghosts of Christmas past. I don't have a lot of Christmas records, and don't really love them either. Plus, there's tons of this stuff out there on other blogs. The Hound has rounded up some choice selections, and if you're looking, that's a good place to start. This will be the last Christmas record this year, but fear not, there's something special happening at the Boogie Woogie Flu for eight days starting at sundown EST on Sunday. That's all I'm saying about that.

Today is Keith Richards birthday, so we'll listen to his very excellent 1978 Christmas single plus a few other great recordings by everyone's favorite Stone who continues to defy death despite coconut trees, water-skis, and substances that a weaker constitution would have succombed to long ago.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Keith.

That Keith Xmas single is pretty great. The outtakes are fun, especially the Arthur Conley cover, Let's Go Steady. Thanks. W.

Keith takes the Chuck Berry line "Wizzing like a Sabre jet" and updates it to "Wizzing like a Phantom jet."
