Yes We Can
In case any of you out there misconstrued my disparaging remarks about the DNC yesterday, I'd like to clarify my position on the matter. This blog supports Barack Obama and is genuinely excited by the Democratic ticket this year. Folks, we have a candidate and tonite's speech was electrifying. Vote.

The whole "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" tone of his campaign creeps me out. But I can definitely support Lee Dorsey.
Well, he's not full of shit, and doesn't represent the failed policies of our current administration, and the idea of a black family in the White House brings a smile to my face as does a reader of this blog referencing Nietzsche in the comments.
GObama!
si se puede, for chrissakes!
right on!!
i'm still mystified why "Yes We Can, Can" wasn't chosen as his campaign theme song (though i would've gone with the Pointer Sisters' version - no disrespect to you or Lee Dorsey). instead they play the same song Bush used in 2004!!??
(but despite his questionable musical decisions, he still has my vote.)
Obama is just another empty suit hoping there will be enough uninformed people willing to vote for him so that he can tax us all to death.
Obama's speech was totally eclipsed by Palin in less than 24 hrs.
Umm... Thanks for your "opinions", anonymous. I think you should probably not drink so much early in the morning. I know it's hard for you to resist the charm of a hockey mom, and the Capraesque dimensions of McCain's choice. And while perhaps you are pining for the good old days of Dan Quayle, or Ronnie "I do not recall" Reagan - you should take a look at the sorry state of our economy and take a moment to reflect on the the events of 3 years ago in New Orleans. When you are done doing that, ask yourself what we have achieved since starting an illegal war in Iraq based on false intelligence reports. Then, think about the Bill of Rights, our Constitution, and the Voting Machines in Florida.
Have a nice Labor Day from all your friends at the Boogie Woogie Flu
Typical lib: someone disgrees with your view & the first thing that you do is post a rebuttal that implies that the poster was inebriated.
He's a great SPEAKER, but he's still AN EMPTY SUIT !!!
If Obama had the experience of Palin, he too might be qualified to run for Vice President.
Seriously: Higher taxes? No school of choice? Thought the surge was a bad idea?! 0bama is clueless

This may be the most stupid and uninformed comment ever left at this blog. I considered deleting it,
but it's so outrageous and offensive, that I'll leave it here for others to relish.
I don't know if you came here to listen to music, or if you just started googling words and ended up here, but please go away.
We need someone as intelligent as Obama to undo the mess that George Bush has left.
I hate to think about giving Bush a third term by electing McCain.
Four more years of Bush's policies and to quote Ani Difranco, we may "never live long enough
to undo everything they've done."
Another day, another bailout and guess who's connected with both the Obama campaign and the failed Fannie Mae...as P T said, there's a sucker born every moment, so join the club. May other have.
some questions for the McCain supporters who have been leaving their comments: are you regular readers of Ted's blog? are you fans of the music he shares and celebrates, most of which is rooted in the african-american experience, and the themes of fairness and equality, uplift despite struggle, defiance of the status quo, and the rise and resiliency of everyday people not born into the financial/military aristocracy? were you surprised when he posted his support for the one candidate who identifies himself, and his vision for this country, with those same themes?
i know Republicans/Conservatives can be into this music, too. after all, it does have a good beat and you can dance to it. but to quote another regularly featured artist of this blog, "something is happening here and you don't know what it is." or better yet:
"don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'."
much respect, Ted.

Hear, Hear, Here!
Thank You Eric.
